    In a tragic incident, Dr. Ramesh Babu Peramsetty, a renowned Indian-origin physician, was shot dead in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, on Friday. Dr. Peramsetty, originally from the Tirupati district in Andhra Pradesh, India, was a well-known healthcare professional who operated several hospitals in the United States. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the shooting.

    Dr. Peramsetty was a key figure in the medical community, serving as one of the founders and the medical director of the Crimson Network, a group of local medical officers in the area. His contributions to healthcare, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, were widely recognized. He was also a practicing physician in Tuscaloosa, where his dedication to patient care earned him a distinguished reputation.

    The Crimson Care Network Team expressed their grief in a statement on social media, asking for privacy for the Peramsetty family during this difficult time. “As many are aware at this moment, we have been informed of Dr. Ramesh Peramsetty’s passing. The Peramsetty family ask for us to give them privacy as they grieve his passing. They have received abundant outpouring of love and faith. We will continue to honor him as he would want us to do. Thank you for your understanding,” the statement read.

    Dr. Peramsetty graduated from Sri Venkateswara Medical College in 1986 and had 38 years of experience in the medical field, specializing in Emergency Medicine and Family Medicine. He was affiliated with several hospitals, including the Regional Medical Center, and was known for his extensive work during the COVID-19 pandemic, for which he received numerous awards.

    In recognition of his significant contributions to the medical profession, a street in Tuscaloosa was named after Dr. Peramsetty. His legacy in the medical community and the lives he touched through his work will be remembered for years to come.

    Dr. Peramsetty is survived by his wife, two sons, and two daughters, all of whom are settled in the United States. The circumstances surrounding the shooting are currently under investigation, and local authorities have not yet released additional details.
