BRONX, NY – A man was fatally stabbed on a Bronx subway train on Saturday afternoon, leading to the arrest of 37-year-old Shane Cunnison, who has been charged with manslaughter, according to the NYPD
The incident occurred around 3 p.m. on a northbound 2 train near E. 149th Street and 3rd Avenue in the Melrose section of the Bronx. Authorities reported that Cunnison and the victim, 30-year-old Nigel Dumas, were engaged in a dispute when Cunnison allegedly stabbed Dumas in the chest.
Emergency responders quickly transported Dumas to Lincoln Hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries. A knife was recovered at the scene, and Cunnison was taken into custody shortly after the incident.
The stabbing marks another tragic episode in a series of violent incidents on New York City’s subway system, highlighting ongoing concerns about safety on public transit. The NYPD continues to investigate the circumstances leading up to the fatal altercation.
