Michigan Newlyweds Arrested After Groom Allegedly Murders Groomsman Hours After Wedding

In a shocking incident, 22-year-old James Shirah from Flint, Michigan, was arrested for allegedly running over and killing his groomsman, Terry Taylor Jr., 29, just hours after his wedding on August 30. According to police, the fatal altercation occurred following an argument between the newlyweds and Taylor during the wedding afterparty.

The couple, James Shirah and his bride, Savanah Nicole Collier, 21, had just celebrated their wedding at a local pizzeria before moving to a house for an afterparty. It was outside this residence that the argument escalated, with Shirah reportedly using a large SUV to intentionally strike Taylor at high speed.

Taylor was rushed to Hurley Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities revealed that the newlyweds fled the scene and only reported the incident the following day, which complicated the investigation.

Shirah has been charged with second-degree murder, while his wife, Savanah Collier, faces charges of being an accessory after the fact. The couple is expected to appear in court for further proceedings.

Local prosecutor David Leyton remarked on the unusual nature of the case, stating, “I’ve never seen anything quite like this.” Police have not yet disclosed the specific cause of the argument leading to this tragic incident.
